Zoom users at risk — company issues urgent security update

Zoom Fixes Critical Vulnerabilities — Security Updates Now Available
Forbes reports that Zoom has released urgent patches for its applications across Windows, iOS, Android, and other major platforms, addressing several critical security flaws. One of the identified vulnerabilities could potentially allow attackers to gain full control over a user's device.
Incident Overview
Zoom has officially disclosed a set of severe vulnerabilities affecting its apps on all major operating systems, including Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. The most serious issue — tracked as CVE-2025-30663 — is a TOCTOU (Time-of-Check to Time-of-Use) flaw. This type of vulnerability allows hackers to interfere with the file system between the initial verification and the actual execution of a file.
In addition to this, the update also addresses other issues specific to Zoom’s Windows applications, including integer overflow, buffer misinterpretation, and improper null pointer dereferencing.
Why It Matters
In total, Zoom has patched nine vulnerabilities, some of which were rated as medium-risk. However, cybersecurity experts warn that even a single entry point can serve as a gateway for more complex attacks — especially when physical access to a device is involved.
Amid the growing threat posed by artificial intelligence, including deepfake technology and identity spoofing, a legitimate Zoom account may become a highly attractive target for cybercriminals.
What Users Should Do
Zoom urges all users to immediately check for updates and install the latest versions of its applications. This applies to both individual users and organizations that rely on Zoom for daily business communications.
The release aligns with broader security efforts across the tech industry: Apple has recently launched iOS 18.5, featuring over 30 patches, while Microsoft rolled out its scheduled May security update for Windows.
