Nvidia to Manufacture AI Supercomputers Exclusively in the U.S.

The Wall Street Journal reports: Nvidia is set to manufacture AI-dedicated supercomputers for the first time. Here’s what you need to know.

Nvidia has announced a strategic partnership with chipset manufacturers to build next-generation AI supercomputers.
The company has launched over one million square feet of new manufacturing facilities in Arizona and Texas. In Houston and Dallas, Nvidia will produce and test its advanced systems, with full production capacity expected within the next 12–15 months.
Meanwhile, its Phoenix facility has already begun manufacturing the new Blackwell chips, specializing in cutting-edge AI technology.

In addition to expanding its manufacturing footprint, Nvidia plans to invest approximately $500 billion over the next four years in AI infrastructure through a series of strategic partnerships.

Why it matters

Nvidia envisions its supercomputers as the backbone of new AI data centers — the so-called "AI factories" — designed specifically to meet the surging global demand for artificial intelligence solutions.
According to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, scaling up domestic production will generate hundreds of thousands of new jobs and secure trillions of dollars in long-term economic value for the United States.
This move positions the U.S. to become a global leader in AI infrastructure, enhancing supply chain resilience and strengthening technological sovereignty.

Previously, Nvidia introduced its DGX series of personal AI supercomputers, enabling companies to train and deploy AI models in-house.

Following the production expansion announcement, Nvidia’s stock dipped by about half a percent. On an annual basis, shares are down roughly 20%, largely due to market uncertainties fueled by tariffs imposed during Donald Trump's administration.
Yet, earlier this year, Nvidia’s market capitalization soared past $3 trillion, driven by the booming AI sector.

What’s next

Nvidia’s roadmap is not merely about expanding production — it’s a bold step toward building the next generation of the digital economy.
With ambitions to become the leading global supplier of AI infrastructure solutions, Nvidia aims to meet the rapidly accelerating demand for computing power.
If successful, the company will reshape the global tech landscape and solidify the United States’ leadership in AI-driven innovation.
